Charlie had his two month baby wellness checkup today. He did great! I was dreading it because of all the shots I knew would be coming his way. I was literally sick to my stomach on the drive to the doctor's office and even got a speeding ticket! Ugh what a day! Monkey man fared better than I, and only cried for a minute before passing out in my arms. Phew. He now weighs 11 pounds 9 ounces (49th percentile) and is 23 1/2 inches long (71st percentile)! He is one growing boy!
I spent the afternoon packing for our weekend trip to St. Louis. Charlie is getting baptized this weekend! We're heading back to St. Michael's where I grew up attending church. It will be fun to be back there, it's been years! Plus Charlie will get to meet lots of Rick's family members for the first time. I doubt Rick and I will see much of him until the plane ride back to Denver! Boy do babies need lots of stuff! I'm glad I started packing two days early. This could take awhile. Charlie has slept most of the afternoon, so I've been able to get a lot done and I'm hopeful he won't get a fever from his shots. Fingers crossed!
P.S. I DO have shingles. The blood test confirmed it today. Luckily I'm already on the antibiotics and the pain has gone away. As long as I don't get the rash, Charlie isn't at risk for getting the chicken pox. God works in mysterious ways...if I hadn't gone to the doctor for a cist on my arm, I never would have mentioned the weird pain on my back. And I probably would not have gone to the doctor to treat my shingles until it was too late. SILVER LINING!
