Charlie had his two month baby wellness checkup today. He did great! I was dreading it because of all the shots I knew would be coming his way. I was literally sick to my stomach on the drive to the doctor's office and even got a speeding ticket! Ugh what a day! Monkey man fared better than I, and only cried for a minute before passing out in my arms. Phew. He now weighs 11 pounds 9 ounces (49th percentile) and is 23 1/2 inches long (71st percentile)! He is one growing boy!
I spent the afternoon packing for our weekend trip to St. Louis. Charlie is getting baptized this weekend! We're heading back to St. Michael's where I grew up attending church. It will be fun to be back there, it's been years! Plus Charlie will get to meet lots of Rick's family members for the first time. I doubt Rick and I will see much of him until the plane ride back to Denver! Boy do babies need lots of stuff! I'm glad I started packing two days early. This could take awhile. Charlie has slept most of the afternoon, so I've been able to get a lot done and I'm hopeful he won't get a fever from his shots. Fingers crossed!
P.S. I DO have shingles. The blood test confirmed it today. Luckily I'm already on the antibiotics and the pain has gone away. As long as I don't get the rash, Charlie isn't at risk for getting the chicken pox. God works in mysterious ways...if I hadn't gone to the doctor for a cist on my arm, I never would have mentioned the weird pain on my back. And I probably would not have gone to the doctor to treat my shingles until it was too late. SILVER LINING!

Happy 2 month Birthday Charlie
Two months ago I gave birth to the most perfect little man! I meant for him to be awake during this photo shoot, but Charlie had other plans!
The hat is still a little big...should be perfect by the time winter rolls around.
Had to squeeze him into his Vail Baby hat one more time! He didn't seem to mind :-)
My aunt Marlene knitted Charlie this beautiful sweater and adorable little hat. You can't see it in the picture, but the sweater has little doggie buttons! Just noticed that I think I put the hat on backwards, whoops. She also made him a blanket, not pictured.
Can't get enough of that sweet angel face!

I've Got Me the Shingles!
Apparently the stress of a newborn, a move to Denver, lack of sleep, being matron on honor in my cousin's wedding, mice in and around our house, and a plumbing problem have gotten the better of me. I went to the doctor today to get a cist on my arm checked out and I mentioned that the skin on my back hurts. "Uh oh, that sounds like shingles," replies the nurse. WHAT. SHINGLES?! Gross. She asked me if I'd been through anything traumatic or stressful lately. I laughed in her face. I thought my body and I were on the same page here, but apparently my body is saying THAT WAS TOO MUCH FOR ME TO HANDLE. SO HERE ARE YOUR SHINGLES. That's just rude. The doctor gave me a prescription, thankfully safe to take during breast feeding. I don't have a rash, YET, so she said to keep an eye on it. If I do get the rash to fill the prescription immediately. And meanwhile, relax. So I'll be here on my couch with the shingles. Want to hang out? Rick thinks I have the plague. He's not handling the stress all that well either I might add. He woke up with a sty in his eye the other day. We are a good looking bunch over here! Good thing Charlie still has to hang out with me if he wants to be fed. Right now he's on his play mat willing himself to crawl. He's organizing an escape route I can see it in his eyes. I better go put him in his crib.

My Handsome Man
It's been a wild month and a half! Now that we're settling into our new home and Charlie and I have found some semblance of a routine, I'm finding time to both take and upload pictures. I thought I'd share a few!
He's quite the aspiring model at the ripe age of 7 1/2 weeks :-)
He LOVES watching his mobile go round and round. Mom and Dad need to find one that doesn't require winding every 37 seconds!
He's quite the ham. His favorite place to smile and laugh is the changing table. I guess he enjoys fresh, clean diapers:-)
71/2 weeks going on 45 years old...
I wonder how long he'll think I'm funny...
LOVE that face!
