I've Got Me the Shingles!
Apparently the stress of a newborn, a move to Denver, lack of sleep, being matron on honor in my cousin's wedding, mice in and around our house, and a plumbing problem have gotten the better of me. I went to the doctor today to get a cist on my arm checked out and I mentioned that the skin on my back hurts. "Uh oh, that sounds like shingles," replies the nurse. WHAT. SHINGLES?! Gross. She asked me if I'd been through anything traumatic or stressful lately. I laughed in her face. I thought my body and I were on the same page here, but apparently my body is saying THAT WAS TOO MUCH FOR ME TO HANDLE. SO HERE ARE YOUR SHINGLES. That's just rude. The doctor gave me a prescription, thankfully safe to take during breast feeding. I don't have a rash, YET, so she said to keep an eye on it. If I do get the rash to fill the prescription immediately. And meanwhile, relax. So I'll be here on my couch with the shingles. Want to hang out? Rick thinks I have the plague. He's not handling the stress all that well either I might add. He woke up with a sty in his eye the other day. We are a good looking bunch over here! Good thing Charlie still has to hang out with me if he wants to be fed. Right now he's on his play mat willing himself to crawl. He's organizing an escape route I can see it in his eyes. I better go put him in his crib.
